One thing that this site attempts to do is help breeders breed their Dragons responsibly. No one likes to see the abandoned page full because of thousands of breeders breeding their Dragons randomly in the attempt to get certain Dragons.

To help breeders do this I have created a guide in the FAQ that provides information regarding the various Dragon breeds. This information is free to anyone who wishes to read it, but I will warn the casual reader that it is chock full of spoilers, so if you wish to figure such things out yourself you are better off avoiding the guide entirely.

If anyone wishes to discuss the contents of the guide, I ask that they either be discussed in the Dragon Breeding forum or on our Chat. I also ask that everyone please refrain from discussing anything you find out in the guide anywhere else, as many other fan sites have rules against discussing "spoilers". Discussing the contents of the guide is also forbidden on the Dragon Cave forum. Consider yourself warned so that you don't get banned.

That said I hope that the guide proves useful to those that do wish to read it and if anyone has information that they can lend toward the guide please do not hesitate to message me so that I can update it.

You need to be careful how you go about this, because it's against DC's rules to make a guide of what dragons come from what egg and such like that…

I agree with Melisande. TJ also does not like it when people let out the secret on how to acquire certain dragons. These rules are not listed in the T&C of DC, I don't believe, but they are listed in the Forums, and unfortunately, TJ goes by those particular, unofficial rules.

But the guide looks nice. :)

All the Dragons are under collapsible code so you have to open them to see what Dragon comes from what, etc. I also explicitly state that people should not discuss the contents of the Guide anywhere other than the Breeding Forum, as breeding discussions are bound to lead to spoilers ANYWAY.

My Guide is certainly not the first, though I doubt it will be the last. It's simply the newest and it's here, as I state in the guide, to promote responsible breeding. The abandoned page gets flooded with eggs all too often from the products of random breeding, particularly of people trying to get Geodes from these Pebbles right now. I hope to help people stop that randomness with my guide so that the cave stops being blocked.

And you aren't obligated to read it if you don't want spoilers. I've made the guide to where you can't get spoilers by just casually strolling over it, like some guides do. I've done all I can to protect the casual reading, which is probably the best I can do. If someone wants to know they are going to find out one way or another.

That's how I see it anyway.

Other people have still got in trouble for even posting a link to a site that has "spoilers" and saying look or don't look. It would be a shame to see this site get shut down or any one here get in trouble for this minor issue. The mods are cracking down hard on this because of the other dragon wiki, the gamers guide on… it's better to be safe than sorry.

I understand what you are saying, Melisande. And of course if the mods ask me to I'll put the guide someplace more discreet or on another site, but I personally see no harm in educating people who just don't know any better. I mean, how often does a new player come in asking for a vampire because they think it's some sort of rare breed that can still be gotten?

I see nothing wrong with offering them a bit of education.

Putting it in a "discrete" place or on another site is still posting one which is against DC's rules. Sorry, it's still wrong to break a rule, hiding it just makes it look like your trying to be sneaky about it.

They aren't actually against DC's rules, only the rules of the forums. One of the mods over there (PF13) said that they were disliked and whatnot, but as long as the person posting the guide doesn't claim to have the artist's permission, it's not really against the rules. So, if there is an egg guide here, the most that would happen is probably having the site no longer linked from the forum.

A couple things in the guide that threw me, though-

Dorsal- Are the purple ones actually more common, or was that just from your perception? I personally found the red ones to be far more common, and was unsure as to where you were getting that from. If it's from a large consensus over on the forums, that's fine, I just was wondering about it.

Some of the "also known as" things seem a bit odd to me. I've never seen anyone refer to mints as "shy dragons", or waters as "serpentine dragons"- I have, though, seen waters referred to as blue dragons rather commonly.

Splits- Are females actually more common, or is this just your own thoughts? It's never seemed that way to me when looking through them, and even if they are more common, I don't think it's that large of a difference.

You have the Yulebuck listed as making yule babies around Christmas time (something which is unconfirmed, just suspected), but don't have the Valentine listed as having Valentine babies around Valentine's day, something which was confirmed (my own Valentine had a baby herself- right here) Also, Yulebucks can't breed with metallics, and neither can Valentines.

The zombie info is completely wrong- it used to be that if you killed the dragon, then attempted a revival, it had a chance at reviving as a zombie. People killed too many dragons, though, so that way was taken out. Most zombies that had been made prior to that were removed, but some still hung around. Then, at Halloween last year, people found out that if you killed a dragon, it could come back as a zombie again. I think they were visible all the time on Halloween, but I'm not sure on that anymore. Now, they show up after midnight EST, until about 6 am or so.

Neglecteds are most likely still available, as someone got one as recently as last September or so, but nobody knows for sure. Most people got them completely by accident.

It may be that the Dorsals are about even. At the time I made the guide the purples appeared more common from what I was seeing. Both from my own grabbing and what other people were saying in chats and what not.

As to the Mints being referred to as Shy Dragons or the Waters as Serpentine I have seen this, though maybe among older users. The Water Dragons used to have Serpentine as part of their breed description as "Serpentine Water Dragons" and the Mints as Shy because of their egg desc.

As to the Splits the females do seem far more common, both from my experience — 5 eggs, with one male and 4 females — and with what others have said about males being very hard to get.

As to the Christmas Dragons making breeding their own babies around Christmas I knew this was possible with the 2007 variety, and I believe I had had someone tell me that they had bred them also. I forget who or where I heard that now.

As to the Valentine's no one had told me that they had been able to breed true yet, so I didn't have that confirmed. Now that you tell me you HAVE I can update the guide.

As to the Yulebucks and Valentine's not being able to breed with metallics that is untrue. There is a breeding chart on the DC Forums showing what can breed with what and one was able to produce with silvers and the other with golds, so it isn't impossible, just very difficult.

As to the zombie info, I'm having to go off of what I receive, which was limited. Most people won't talk about them at all. From what I was made aware of they had been removed completely or could not longer be gotten. As I understand it the revive option isn't available if you intentionally kill your Dragon, but if they die from sickness and not from running out of time it was.

Neglected I believe to be still available but I've not had a chance to figure out the exact method. I've heard some people say an egg has to be passed back and forth a lot with really low views and then rescued from the brink of death with lots of views, some people say oyu just have to get it really low time and then pelt it with views, and another person told me they bred a sick egg.

The Guide just gets updated as I get more information. It is a decidedly evolving thing, not a fixed one. Of course ratios are going to shift as time goes by. Tis the nature of the beast and I just correct things are more information becomes available.

Yulebucks no longer can breed with metallics, which is why I said that- they could for a time, but that was removed since all their babies were guaranteed to be metallic.

The revive action is there if you intentionally kill your dragon- I can find someone's zombie sometime tonight, if you like, to show you. Many of the zombies made on Halloween were from people's already adult dragons, that they killed specifically for that purpose.

As for Christmas breeding true, I know for a fact the '07 ones do- if someone told you the Yulebucks do, they were just assuming, as it was impossible to have an '08 grow up before the season was over- they stopped breeding true once it hit January, and the very earliest one could grow up was January 1st. Also, Yulebucks couldn't breed until… I don't remember for sure, but I think it was when we got the new server. So, no one actually knows for sure.

Those other names could be possible for the other breeds, but I do think that, at the very least, blue should be added to the waters. I've seen that one used far more often than those other ones.

I personally have always found female splits to be harder to find, but that could just be me, I suppose.

Unfortunately I was on a two day cross-country bus trip when my Yulebucks grew up, so I didn't get to see, especially since my computer went nuts after I got here. >.>

We should probably move this discussion to the Dragon Breeding forum, as it is getting spoilery. I'd love to see one of these Zombie Dragons though. Just either post the link on the Breeding Forum or PM it to me.
